THIRTY-THIRD HAWAII LEGISLATURE · 2026 REGULAR SESSION

After the Gavel: Hawaii

Democrats ended the 2026 session with 41 of 51 House seats and 22 of 25 Senate seats. Those margins gave one party more than enough votes to pass ordinary legislation in either chamber.

After the Gavel analyzed 14 bills enacted during Hawaii's 2026 Regular Session, organized into 10 posts. Several are grouped by theme because related laws often reveal a larger policy direction when they are read together.

Every post links to the enrolled text or enacted law it draws from. Every claim here traces to the legislation or a named outside source.

This is our read of the bills. We encourage every reader to read the legislation for themselves and reach their own conclusions.
